Industrial Pretreatment

The Highlands Ranch Water EPA approved industrial pretreatment program is designed to protect publicly owned treatment works (POTW) infrastructure and to reduce conventional and toxic pollutants discharged by industries and other nondomestic wastewater sources into its sewer system and the environment. The objectives of the program are to:

  1. Prevent the introduction of pollutants into the wastewater treatment plant that will interfere with its operation, including interference with its use or disposal of municipal sludge.
  2. Prevent the introduction of pollutants into the wastewater treatment plant that will pass through the treatment works and adversely effect the environment.
  3. Improve opportunities to recycle and reclaim municipal and industrial wastewaters and sludges.

All domestic and non-domestic dischargers to the wastewater collection system must comply with Highlands Ranch Water's rules and regulations.
